Kari Sherwood

Kari L. Sherwood, MS, MEd, MSW, LLMSW, is a Joint PhD student in Social Work and Developmental Psychology and a MI-LEND Fellow. She holds a BS in Human Development and Family Science, MS in Educational Leadership Studies, MEd in Special Education-Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and MSW in Social Policy and Evaluation. Kari also has ten years experience as an Instructional Designer of e-learning in the corporate world and is the Co-Founder of Pathway Inclusion Center, Inc. a 501(c)(3) in Port Clinton, Ohio. 

 

Kari joined the LEVEL-UP lab in 2018. She assisted with the adaptation of and is currently involved in the evaluation of Virtual Interview Training for Transition-Age Youth (VIT-TAY), an intervention to help individuals with Autism practice job interview skills. Kari will also assist with the development of a new intervention, SOCIAL-Work, aimed at sustaining employment through practicing social skills in a virtual workplace for individuals with Autism.

 

She is interested in developing and evaluating technology-based interventions focused on social cognition for individuals with Autism and other developmental and psychiatric disabilities to improve employment outcomes, including employer-targeted interventions to reduce unconscious bias in the workplace. Kari uses mixed methods and implementation science in her research.
