Cynthia Burton

Cynthia Z. Burton, PhD, ABPP (she/her) is Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Michigan Medicine Department of Psychiatry. She earned her doctorate degree at the San Diego State University / University of California San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, and completed internship at the Ann Arbor VA and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan before joining the faculty in 2018.

 

Her research focuses on recovery-oriented psychosocial interventions for people living with mental health conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, including cognitive remediation and supported employment. She is particularly interested in whether and how cognitive treatments can improve daily functioning and help people fulfill their meaningful roles and goals. She is thrilled to be a co-investigator in the Level Up Lab and to lead the adaptation of WorkChat: A Virtual Workday for adults receiving mental health services.
